I have been creating abstract fine art tapestries using Biblical themes for over forty years. Therefore, the Bible means my second home, where I feel comfortable, free, and in very good company.
Several years ago, I started asking myself about the Bibles of other religions. What do they believe? How do they depict the creation of the world? All those thoughts were running through my mind when I found a book containing four ancient cosmograms* based on creation stories which showed me the pictorial answer to my question. The creation stories of various faiths are both similar to and different from each other. I decided to explore this through tapestry.
Following the lines of those structured drawings, I fashioned four tapestries portraying the creation of the world as conceived by the religions of Japan, India, Egypt, and Christianity.
The series, entitled LEGENDS OF CREATION, is now available exclusively through the website. I believe the wall-hangings are appropriate for enhancing a space devoted to meditation, culture, or education. I hope you enjoy my creative take on the story of humanity’s beginnings.
*A cosmogram is a two-dimensional geometric figure that represents a cosmology, or an understanding of the universe.
